Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
Tension gripped Jangipur in Murshidabad district on Wednesday morning after locals spotted a man’s body lying in the bushes near the horse carriage stand in ward number 12 of the municipality. The discovery was made around 7 am, following which the Jangipur outpost police were informed.
Police reached the spot and recovered the body, later sending it to Jangipur Mahakuma Hospital for post-mortem. During the search, an Aadhar card and voter ID were found in the deceased’s pocket. Based on the Aadhar details, the man has been identified as Pradhan Konya, a resident of Birbhum district.
Preliminary police assessment suggests that the recovered identity documents likely belong to the deceased. The cause of death, however, remains unclear and an investigation is currently underway.
The incident has sparked concern among locals, who have demanded a thorough inquiry into how the body ended up in a public area, and whether any foul play was involved.
